Music

Our school choir is a talented group of young singers in grades 3 to 6 who come together to share their love of music. Throughout the school year, they rehearse diligently, working on harmonies, vocal techniques and building their confidence as performers. Each spring, the choir has the exciting opportunity to perform at the Sturgeon Night of Music, where they showcase their hard work and passion for singing. This year, choir will begin in in January, after the Winter Break. We are looking forward to it - stay tuned!

Our Grade 6 Band is a wonderful opportunity for students to take their first steps into the world of instrumental music. Throughout the year, they learn the fundamentals of playing a variety of instruments, reading music, and performing together as a team. It's amazing to see their progress from learning their first notes to performing full songs with confidence! Our Grade 6 Band also has the opportunity to perform in concerts and events, sharing their hard work with the community. Please refer to the chart below for an idea of what you can expect. We are excited to watch their musical journey unfold!

Events

Our Junior High Band is made up of students who have at least one year experience with their instrument of choice. Building on their skills, these students tackle more challenging pieces, refine their technique and grow as a cohesive unit. With a strong sense of teamwork and commitment, the band brings energy and excitement to every lesson and performance! For the 2024/2025 school year, band will be offered during Term 2, with the possibility of later performances during Term 3.
