Celebrating World Book Day: A School-Wide Celebration of Stories and Connection

At our school, World Book Day isn’t just about reading—it’s about celebrating imagination, creativity, and connection across all grade levels. This year, our halls were filled with the buzz of shared stories and the joy of reading as students from kindergarten to junior high came together in a variety of fun and meaningful activities.
One of the highlights of the day was a special reading buddy session during advisory period. Students were paired with peers from different grades to spend time reading together. Whether it was a picture book or a short chapter, the school hallways were filled with laughter, curiosity, and quiet moments of concentration. It was inspiring to watch older students mentoring and connecting with their younger buddies, sparking conversations about favorite characters and surprising plot twists.
Our younger students in Kindergarten through Grade 6 also had the chance to get creative by designing their own book covers. From fantasy adventures to real-life heroes, the cover designs were as unique and colorful as the students who made them. The halls turned into an impromptu gallery, proudly showcasing their love for books and storytelling.
Meanwhile, our junior high students took on a different creative challenge: designing their own bookmarks. These thoughtful, artistic pieces featured everything from motivational reading quotes to custom illustrations inspired by their favorite books.
World Book Day reminded us that reading is more than a school subject—it’s a gateway to connection, self-expression, and lifelong learning. We’re proud of our students for embracing the spirit of the day with such enthusiasm and heart.
Here’s to the power of books—and the joy of sharing them with others!
